This is part the latest project I've been working on for college in my Foundation Art course. We were all given a movie quote, a film and a genre. Mine were:

1) 'It's alive! It's alive!' from Frankenstein
2) Bride of Frankenstein
3) Steampunk

The brief for Illustration/Graphics was '3D illustrative typography', so I decide to create a mask and costume, as I was really inspired by the Greek tragedy masks in the theatre section of the Victoria and Albert museum

Their haunted look of the faces really captured my imagination.

When all the different bits are put together, it's meant to be a character that's the embodiment/goddess/queen of abandoned creations - art, writing, characters, etc, as Frankenstein's monster was itself rejected by its creator. She's a patchwork being made up of all the different abandoned parts >D Up to you whether it's metaphorical or not...

Anyway, here's the mask for the costume, made of mod rock (the stuff used for broken bone casts), reinforced with papier mache (because I was stupid and thought one layer of mod rock would be strong enough and wouldn't start to crumble and fragment), garden wire for the antlers and semi-transparent black cloth over the holes so you can't see the wearer's face. Painted in acrylic. To include the typography part of the assignment, I've painted all over the mask 'I am alive' in different languages (using Google Translate; sorry for any mistakes) - they're the protests and cries of the abandoned >D
